VPARK

"Virtual Amusement Park"

Overview

The main objective of this project is to provide a shared networked virtual environment and create a Virtual Amusement Park. The general framework of the project will allow the creation of key attractions (such as Virtual Rock Concert, Dance, Theatre and Olympic Games”. Remote participants will be able to connect to the Virtual Park via different networks (ISDN, ATM or Internet” and watch/participate in the attractions provided. 3D virtual humans will represent participants these virtual humans will have the same appearance and behaviors as real humans. Much like the real participants, there will be autonomous humans who will provide interaction and entertainment; these virtual humans will be entirely autonomous.

MIRALab's contribution

MIRALab shares joint responsibility for the underlying technology that supports the VPARK project. This mainly consists of two parts; the first is the networked virtual environment that enables participants to visit VPARK via various networks and see and even join in with the amusements, secondly it provides support for the participant’s representation in the virtual world. This second issue covers not only participants such as real users, but also actors that might perform autonomously in the Virtual Park. MIRALab will also create some of the key attractions, namely the Interactive Virtual Dance Show.
