HUMANOID-II – “Realistic, autonomous 3D virtual humans and their interaction in multimedia applications”

HUMANOID-II – “Realistic, autonomous 3D virtual humans and their interaction in multimedia applications”

Period: May 1995 - May 1996 Type: European Research Status: Completed

Overview

HUMANOID II will provide games designers, multimedia designers and film producers with the technology for creating simulations of realistic interacting humans. This project extends the technology for simulating artificial humans developed in HUMANOID in two main directions:

  • the visual appearance of the humanoids will be more realistic in that the clothes and hair will be modelled
  • the autonomous behaviour of the humanoids will be developed so that humanoids can participate in interactions with each other and with the user.

MIRALab’s contribution

MIRALab is responsible for modeling (face+body), hair generation and rendering, cloth design and simulation, integration of facial actions into the high function library (AGENTlib), humanoid-humnoid interaction (facial part) and preparation of Demo1.
