Biomechanical analysis of the human hip joint during extreme movements

Abstract: In this paper we propose an approach based on subject-specific models (anatomy, kinematics and dynamics) resulting from different non-invasive methods. This combination, offers a new possibility to analyze the biomechanical behavior of the hip joint under extreme movements. This allows us to verify if subjects’ practicing activities requiring these movements, such as athletes and professional ballerina dancers (our case study), present a risk for the development of hip osteoarthritis.
